Technology becomes art

Posted on Updated on

Here’s an interesting bit of ‘art’, which relies on a heap of technology to produce some fascinating visuals.

Watch on a  big screen if you can.

Enjoy.

I had some collegues in awe yesterday watching this (thx vsauce2). This is a live performance with no dodgy post-processing or compositing. Just three robot arms, some projectors and groovy lighting.
Awesome audio too, but you were probably too entranced to notice.
If you’d like too know what projection mapping is and maybe even give it a go at home check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvvy86zvoX4
I’m very interested in this technology as I’ve seen some very interesting and innovative applications, like this bomb defusal game made in a game jam: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPA3W-dH7OA
In combination with head tracking this tech seems almost like science fiction…
